TWD - Brownie Buttons

This week’s TWD recipe is brownie buttons and was chosen by Jayma of Two Scientists Experimenting in the Kitchen. This post is also short and sweet :0) – little like the brownie buttons. I made the brownie buttons as part of my hospice baking for the month. I didn’t flavour them with orange zest as the recipe suggested. I also only had 4 squares of white chocolate in the cupboard (don’t know where the rest has disappeared to ;0), so had to dip 9or spread as I did) half with white chocolate and half with dark.

My husband and I each tasted one brownie bite and they were delicious, but for the extra hassle of cleaning a couple of mini muffin tins as opposed to a square base that you can line, I think I would rather make normal brownie and then cut it into cute pieces.

See what the other TWDers thought here.

  1. They look delicious. I just dusted mine with powdered sugar, but I'm tempted by the frosting.

  2. We skipped the white chocolate. I'm with you. For all the cuteness, they were just brownies. Easy one pan brownies, but brownies.

  3. Hi Tammy, I am with you - there was not much bang for your buck with these.

  4. They look great with the mix of two different chocolates on top!

  5. True about the mess! They were delicious though. Yours look cute.

  6. I agree - I like the idea of slabs of brownie rather than little bites. I'm glad I went without the white choc glaze.

  7. They do look cute with the chocolate/white chocolate color play. I think "bites" might lead me to eat several of them, which would be a bad thing. I am all for the slab brownie, too. easier clean up and less feeling like a pig (I would be embarrassed to down six of these in a crowd, but wouldn't feel at all self conscious for finishing a brownie in six bites!)

  8. Yea, that's a valid point... it's easier using one pan. But they're darned cute as mini's.

I'll bet they were appreciated very much.

  9. I had a similar experience except my chocolate was half gone! Oops! So I had to half the recipe.

They do look cute though :)

  10. I used mini muffin liners and the result was good, so I had no mess.

  15. much easier in regular muffin pans - try that next time! i'd rather do that than bake in a regular brownie pan b/c you get more edges :)

I agree, it's easier using just one pan.

  17. Totally agree --- the dishwashing part isn't too fun. Still, I think your effort dealing with the mini muffin pan has paid off...Your buttons are very cute!

  19. Hi, when you say as part of your baking for hospice baking month - what is this exactly? Sounds interesting.. if it is doing baking voluntarily, I would be interested. Can you tell me more? thanks, Jen :)

  20. Hi Jen

yes, it is a voluntary thing - baking for hospice so they have baking in their tins for families coming to visit, patients etc. It is organised by a young girl in Auckland. If you are in teh Auckland area please let me know and I will put you in touch with her. If you're not you could approach your local hospice yourself.
